Reminiscing about Misha

I can't believe it but it's been nearly a year since I adopted my sweet Misha (then known as Salty). I was looking at her Humane Society records today and this is the date one year ago she was left at the Humane Society by her first family. She was pregnant and it still breaks my heart they spayed her two days later (on June 4) and no one could tell me why or what became of her kittens. I can only imagine. :-( We first layed eyes on her on June 6 last year and fell in love. She was rubbing up against the glass and we couldn't resist taking her into a room to visit with her. I wish I'd taken her home that very day but you may recall I pondered for a few days bringing her into our home with three cats that wouldn't be too pleased to share their territory with a new arrival (sadly they still aren't happy with her). On June 9 I went back and spent more quality time with her and knew I had to have her. I officially adopted her that evening and brought her home June 10 (we wanted to set up her room and get her a litter box, food, toys, etc first). I'm sure many here remember the next few months I had to keep her in isolation since she had the URI and UTI and parasites. She was hospitalized for 3 or 4 days as well. It was a very worrisome time and with me sleeping with her in her room and giving her lots of TLC she recovered. I will never forget everyone's support and prayers here on Cats. I am so grateful to this day for your care and concern for my Misha. She is a total sweetheart and I am so blessed to have her in my life.
Can you believe she was so skinny and now she wants to eat all the time? LOL! I continue to pray her companion Gracie will be able to live and spend her life loving & playing with her "mommy" Misha. :-)
Thanks for listening :-)
Hugs,

I have a special place in my heart for torties too.

Hey! Can my Tasha get in on that? LOL!
I thought the complete opposite when I first laid eyes on my Tasha. I thought she was breathtakingly beautiful, with her rich golden, red, and beige colours. Everyone who has met her is quickly taken by her.
However, a friend of mine had a tortie that looked very much like your MJ - duller colours, with huge patches of gray mixed in. I have to admit I didn't find her very attractive at first, but her personality grew on me very quickly! :)

Oh ((((Suzy))))! Poor little Gracie. Now I understand why everybody has been praying for her. You can most certainly add my prayers to those as well.
You are such an amazing furmom to be taking care of her so well. There are a lot of people out there who would have given up long ago. Then again, there are a lot of people out there who would have brought Misha right back to the shelter, like a defective piece of merchandise that could be exchanged. Your kitties are very lucky to have you!

Thank you Rena, Donna & Unicorn for your kind words....Tortkateers is so cute! LMBO!!! I am here celebrating one year exactly since the day I brought sweet Misha home with me. She is so beautiful and I love torties because no two are exactly alike. Unique colouring and independent nature. LOL!
Kitty kisses to all your furkids and an extra hug for those torties!
How did I miss this post???
Good morning and thank you Cat! You're not late at all....today is the date I actually took Misha home from the Humane Society last year. So I guess it is her official "gotcha day" ! :-) (The 9th was the date I completed the adoption paperwork and paid for her and they said they'd keep her until the 10th to allow me to prepare a room to keep her in so she'd be separate from the other cats. I had to buy her supplies and everything). I will never forget how wonderful you were during those weeks of worrying about Misha's health following her arrival here in her new home. I hope she never ever gets any more URIs or UTI or anything. I gave her a big cuddle & kiss today and I will be spoiling her later after work with lots of attention also. I'm so glad she won our hearts and came into our lives! :-) Now if I could just convince Patches & Boots to be nice to her.....I had no idea a year later I'd still be keeping them separate. LOL!
I sure hope your furkids are doing well! Gracie seems ok so far this week. I'm still praying for a miracle because I know Misha would be so sad without her little "baby".
((((Hugs)))).....yeah! It's Friday and I made it through the first week at my new job! Yippee!!!
