Romeo has a problem

Romeo shares our home with an iguana, ball python and fish and he does great with all of them, however we have added 2 new members to our home, puppies. The playful pups (Rosco and Daisy)just want to play with Romeo but he looks at them like they have lost their minds. Romeo is a loving and accepting cat and has always done well with everything but now he is afraid of the pups and I really want them to get along. When I was growing up we had 2 cats and a dog and they got along very well, they slept together and everything and I would like to get these 3 as close as possible. What can I do to help Romeo learn to accept the newest members of our home.

I'm glad that it's starting to work out for you! My aunt breeds St. Bernards and just got a blue heeler/collie mix puppy. They also have lots of barn cats. Yep, the puppies ALWAYS see the cats and think, "hey, I can play with them." And of course, the cats are like "what the @#!#. another bleeping puppy we have to fend off." At least, that's what I imagine them saying. ;-) Sounds cruel, but one or two swipes will let your puppy know that he can't/shouldn't mess with Romeo and hopefully the pup will "get it". Good luck!
