Rule for complete litter changes?

I'm trying to find out how often I'm supposed to completely replace scoopable litter with fresh. I tried checking the Tidy Cats website, but all it said was to scrub the box when doing a complete change. (Duh!) Does anyone here know what the general rule is?

I don't know if there is a rule of thumb regarding scoopable litter. A cousin of mine has two cats and she prefers the unscoopable, i.e. regular litter, and she does a complete change every week and scrubs out the litter boxes.

I use the scoopable and replace what I have taken out every time. Generally, I do a complete change and a good scrub of the litter boxes every 4 to 6 weeks.

I hope this is helpful.

All the best,

I agree with Patrick. I think I read where it's a good idea to completely change the litter once a month and do the litterbox cleaning routine. I usually go about 6 weeks and let the litter in the box get kind of low, so I don't have to throw out too much.

you guys are better than me...i use arm & hammer and clean it frequently...but every 2 months or so... A NEW BOX! I'd rather spend the extra $ than scrub away the remnants of Sparkle's "gifts"... :-P
