Salty ate some on her own tonight!!!

I had force fed her this afternoon and felt awful. I let her be alone for about an hour and then went in to check on her. Dh just got home and came to see her too. She acted like she wanted to eat some of her dry food. She kept gagging whenever she leaned down. Dh decided to put her plate up a wee bit higher, on top of a ream of copy paper. Lo and behold she started eating!!! We were both beside ourselves with joy! She ate about 1/8 cup worth of the dry Science Diet. Then she stopped, so I then gave her a nebulizer treatment. I felt bad again because I then had to give her her 2 antibiotic pills. We went out for dinner & a movie and I worried about her the whole time. It seemed an eternity and I rushed home to see her. She hasn't eaten anymore since the first time, so I just gave her some of the Nutri-Cal gel supplement under the roof of her mouth, and she swallowed it. I wish she'd finish her dry food. It was so good seeing her eat! I don't think she's had any water yet. I am about to give her her 3rd nebulizer treatment now and then we'll go to bed for some well deserved rest. I pray tomorrow she'll eat again. She is breathing better tonight, too. Less noisy.

Thank you for all the prayers....they seem to be working!

Sweet Dreams,

Suzy

Thank you Pink! I just got her pills down her and she ate some more and drank a little too. She's not eating but maybe 1/2 what she normally should in a day, but it's sure better than nothing. I can finally see a light at the end of the tunnel. :-)

That is so sweet of you to say! I did indeed fall in love with my dear Salty (pretty sure I'm gonna call her Misha, though) from the start. I am so very happy that she's coming around and is getting better. I just sit and watch her eat and feel so blessed. She ate about 1/4 cup of dry food today. It's a start, right? :-) I want to give her a much happier life than she had before I found her.

I will check with the vet tomorrow to see what she thinks. I have to return the nebulizer and have her temp taken (I tried to do it with the digital rectal thermometer, but she squirmed so much I had to give up). I will be happy when my kitty ear thermometer arrives in Tuesday's mail!

Have a good week and send lots cuddles to Sammy & Misha!

(((((Hugs))))) Thank you & sweet Misty & Misha for all your support!!! Salty is at the vets now with dh so I will see what she said and let everyone know later. I looked up the meaning of the name Misha (which is so beautiful) but it said it was Russian for a male...a version of Michael? Would it be ok to use Misha for a female or should I keep looking for other names? I'm not 100% sure yet...but soon! (I can keep Salty as an affectionate middle name for old times sake).

I can't wait to let her out of her isolation room...she's getting creative about sneaking out whenever I open the door. LOL

Guess what? We think our female chinchilla Cocoa may be pregnant. Her tummy felt bigger than normal when I held her last night (dh took her in to see Salty & they just looked at each other. LOL) I have no idea how to tell how far along she is. Dh wanted to have chin babies so we could get them used to being handled from the beginning, and keep maybe one of them and adopt out the others. (Our 3 adults were adopted when they were older, so none of them is real fond of being held). More animals....I may just open a zoo! Giggle!

Hugs,

Suzy

Zipper and I are still sending hugs, kitty kisses and lots of prayers for Salty's continued recovery. It will be so nice for her to get accustomed to her new home.

Those hugs, kitty kisses & prayers are most welcome & very much appreciated! Salty (according to dh who took her to the vet this morning) had a temp of 103.4, but this time they didn't give her any injection to bring down her fever. She got more fluids and was sent home on her merry way. The vet said as long as she's eating she doesn't need anymore Nutri-Cal. I am to keep her isolated another week (ugh! She'll hate that) and then I'm to bring her in on July 9 to get her shots. (Another vet will be there that day since mine will be out of town). I really can't wait until she is better and can venture out into the rest of the house which is what she REALLY wants to do.

Hugs & Purrs,

Suzy & Salty
