Salty home from the vet's again....

After spending all night with Salty she still didn't eat or drink. I took her into the vet's this morning and she had a slight temperature, so they gave her another anti-inflamatory shot to bring down the fever and help with her breathing. She weighed 6 pounds. They gave me 3 cans of Hills A/D and a syringe to start force feeding her with. They also gave me a tube of Nutri-Cal to feed her a couple times a day as a supplement. The vet loaned me a nebulizer machine and gave me 6 small syringes with the Gentocin medicine to use with saline in the nebulizer 3 times a day. I'm about to do her first nebulizer treatment. Wish me luck! I ordered a cat ear thermometer online and will receive it on Tuesday. In the meantime it'll just be the digital 10 second read thermometer in the rear. LOL I wonder if Salty will ever forgive me for putting her through this. She growls now when I force things in her mouth, but she never tries to scratch or bite me. I think she's just scared.

Thank you all for everything. I don't know what I'd do without your compassion & support & prayers!

Hugs,

Suzy

Thanks for the info. I know what you mean about hearing them breath across the room. It's very heartbreaking. I think she's a bit better tonight than she was last night. I'll keep praying she improves with each day.

Thank you for the advice. I remember reading some of his posts and I felt absolutely terrible for him to lose so many of his beloved furbabies like that. One is bad enough...but 3? Bless his heart. I hate to bother him when he's still mourning their loss. If I have more problems with Salty I will ask you for his addy, though. Things were looking up a wee bit ago since she started to eat a little! :-)

We think alike....purchasing is mind numbing, isn't it? I never really used my MA in social sciences. I need to get a different degree in something I enjoy, and in something I can actually find work in. I love working with animals, and I love studying medicine/nutrition in general. I'll need to find a good career counselor.

I bet you'll find something much better after your trip in August. You have such a talent with animals, it would be great if you could use it :-) Poor Tasha....at least she knows you are helping her. I sure hope Salty feels the same. I've tried calling her Misha a few times and I'm looking to see how she responds. I suppose Salty could be her middle name? She doesn't really respond to it....I'm not sure how much time her previous owners spent with her.

Off to give (Misha?) her nebulizer treatment.

Have a good night!

I'm so happy that Misha has eaten something.
