Salty Update

I stopped by the vet's office after work to visit Salty. They said she had a temp over 104 this morning but they gave her a shot of something to bring it down. She had a few nebulizer treatments today which went well. She was in her cage and when she saw me she relaxed enough to eat for the first time in 48 hours! I was so happy that she at least ate a little of the beef baby food & some beef 9-Lives they'd given her. She still is ignoring the tuna & the water....but they gave her some fluids today so hopefully she'll be fine. The vet opted not to give her the pill for the intestinal parasite today. She didn't want her stressed. She instead just gave her the injection for the antibiotic for her URI and said she'd let her sleep and relax overnight. She's still congested, but thankfully the infection hasn't spread to her lungs. I am so glad she's being looked after during the day and is given treatments that I can't give her at home. (During the night she's there all alone....but hopefully she'll sleep and let her body heal). I will check on her again tomorrow. It sounds like they'll continue with the nebulizer treatments and maybe keep her another couple days. I'll keep you posted. I miss her, but I want to do what's best for her. I hope she'll be well on her way back to health by the time I can bring her home. The vet said she felt good about Salty's situation (i.e. No feelings that she wouldn't make it). That makes me feel better. I don't know what I'd do if I lost her. She has her whole life ahead of her still.

I am now at home trying to give lots of attention to my other 3 kitties. They were feeling somewhat insecure with the arrival of Salty. I can't wait until Salty's healthy & I can finally get her introduced properly to the other girls.

Thank you everyone again for all the thoughts, prayers, & support!

Suzy

Thank you Leslie!

The vet told me this morning that Salty ate her dry food overnight (yippee!) and that her temp was a normal 100.9 this morning. She'll have some more nebulizer treatments and I'll go see her at 4:30 after work. The vet thinks I may get to take her home tonight. (I'm still afraid to give her pills, though).

I'll post more later. Have a great day!

Thank you!! (I am still toying with Misha as one of the potential new names for Salty....she responded to it when I was trying out different names) ;-)

I love the name Misha, but then I am a tad bias because that is what I call my calico.

I love your website too! Sammy & Misha are awesome! Do you happen to know what the name Misha means? I couldn't find any info on the cat name websites I checked.

Thanks!

Sounds like she is getting some great treatment, and I will say a prayer that she recovers quickly from this.
