Our cat was rescued by us when he was around a year old. We noticed that he always was breathing loudly and snorting--the vet told us he had chronic allergies/nasal problems. Last fall, he started sneezing almost constantly and giant yellow snot wads would come out of his nose. He also stopped grooming himself, etc. I took him to the vet and she gave me Clavamox to help clear up the infection. It worked, but as soon as I stopped giving him the pills, the infection came back. Then the vet prescribed azithromycin and that also cleared up whatever he had. She also had me giving him L-lysine gel to help him fight off the virus he probably has. She told me to give him 12 mg/day of Benadryl if he needed it and that really seems to help, but it seems like every time he goes off antibiotics, his sinus infections come back. I can't afford to keep buying antibiotics from the vet and it doesn't seem like they are clearing it up anyway. Has anyone else had a cat with this problem?? What did you try and did it work? Thanks!
