Sparkle's "war" injury

Hi again...

I just got home from my parents' house (celebrating my dad's 81st) and I noticed a little red mark beneath Sparkle's eye. It seems like Orlando scratched Sparkle during one of their playfights. Sparkle doesn't seem bothered by this and it's a tiny tiny scratch. Is there anything I need to do? Should I put something on it?

Thanks

Hi Lia,

I would just keep an eye on it - as long as it's not swollen or bothering the eye itself, it should just heal up in a couple of days.

Hi Donna,

You must be new...well not new, I'm old and haven't posted regularly in a year...

Sparkle's was given that name by her previous owner, an asthma-plagued friend of mine from college who couldn't keep her because she had severe asthma and she really had no business being around cats anyway. She said she named her Sparkle after the movie, "Sparkle" with Irene Cara (from "Fame") as the title character "Sparkle."

I don't particular like the name myself, but she had it for 8 months before I owned her, so why change it now.

here's some pics of her and my boy-cat, Orlando. Sparkle is the gray-multi-striped one, Orlando is the black one.

Hi Leslie,

Thanks for the advice. I'll just keep an "eye" on her, pun intended.

Yes, my father enjoyed his birthday...nothing special, but just me making dinner and eating a Baskin-Robbins ice cream cake (I LOOOVE THOSE!!).

Depending on where the cut is exactly, you could try to dab on a little hydrogen peroxide. That will help heal it and prevent any infections. Of course, if the scratch is on the eyelid, then you'll just have to keep an eye on it. My Amber got in an actual fight and had a puncture wound in her ear. I just put peroxide on it a couple of times a day (when I remembered and Amber would let me) and it healed up within 4-5 days.

I love your pictures! I didn't like the movie Fame, but the name Sparkle is cute. Orlando is so shiny. I love his fluffy tail. I've been posting awhile, probally after you left. I have alot of cats and 4 dogs so I guess I have a big mouth here!!! Donna
