Taking Boots back to the vets....

When I spoke with the vet this afternoon and told her Boots is still dry heaving whenever I try to touch her, and she's only eating a tiny bit of dry food, drinking no water, and thankfully eating some canned food, she said she would like me to bring her in tomorrow morning (Thurs) and leave her for a few days so they can "observe" her. I told her the vet bills are getting a bit overwhelming for us, and she said we should not worry (I'm thinking she won't charge for the overnight stays. She did this courtesy for me when Misha stayed a couple nights there back in June, also). I am torn. If she doesn't know why Boots is dry heaving, shouldn't she refer me to a specialist? Boots absolutely hates to be confined to a cage. I think she'll be stressed and miserable there for 2 days all by herself. Will it help at all? I am sure they'll probably give her fluids, but otherwise I doubt she'll eat more there than she would here at home where she's more relaxed. I guess I'm just not sure it'll be of any benefit to Boots. I pray the vet knows what she's doing in this case. Dh is worried Boots may have eaten something (like the styrofoam popcorn we found that must have fallen out of a package), and he's thinking maybe it's stuck in her tummy? I am not convinced this is the case, but the x-rays had shown her stomach to be full of what they thought was food. I hope it isn't anything else. We are grasping at straws trying to figure out what's causing her to feel so sick. If it is just a virus, as the vet theorized, then staying at the vets office (and being left alone & unattended from 6pm-7am each night), in my opinion, won't make any difference. It'll just cause stress for Boots. The virus (if that's what this is) will run it's course no matter where she stays. I'm just so confused about what's best for Boots. I just want her to get well.

Thanks for once again listening. You are all such wonderful friends!!!

Oh Suzy. I'm so sorry Boots isn't doing any better. I will keep her in my prayers and hope the vet can find something. If not, I would probably try to get a second opinion. Hang in there!

Gee I hope that the antibiotics kick in and heal her throat.
