Tasha/Bailey introduction; and a pic!

Well, we let Tasha have her first look at the intruder last night! We put Bailey in his carrier, and then opened the door to the bedroom so that Tasha could stroll in at her leisure. DBF and I sat on the floor on either side of the carrier, and just talked normally, knowing that Tasha usually comes along to see what we are doing when she can hear us but not see us.

Sure enough, a few minutes later she wandered in and sat in the doorway, watching us. Then Bailey meowed and Tasha finally noticed him - her whole body went rigid and her eyes nearly popped out of her head! She crept closer and started chattering at him, sort of like she chatters at birds and flies, and Bailey squeaked back in answer. Then she started hissing at him! LOL - I had expected that though - every animal I have ever introduced has disliked each other on the very first day. She eventually wandered back out to the hallway, where she layed down and casually continued to watch us. DBF and I took Bailey out then, and let him wander around the room on his own (supervised by us, of course), with the door open so Tasha could watch him. She seemed pretty disinterested then - she watched him but she didn't show any emotion. She even did her usual flopping on her back and chirping a couple of times - so the fact that she is acting normal in his presence is a very good sign! We will continue again tonight when we get home from work.

Anyway, here are a couple of pictures of Bailey, and his brother. The lady who took his brother brought in her digital camera yesterday so she emailed me the pics. Bailey is the all-gray kitty on the right, and his brother, Nemo, is the gray/white mix on the left!

Thanks! How is your little Timmy doing? I haven't been around regularly lately, but I know you adopted him pretty recently. His pics on your website are adorable! How did he get along with Boo Boo in the begining, and now? I've introduced a lot of animals in my lifetime, but I've never introduced a 5-6 week old kitten to a full grown cat before!

November... wow.... doesn't sound like a long time ago, but it WAS 7 months! Yeesh!

We keep Bailey in a good-sized box in the 2nd bedroom at night and while we're at work. Pretty soon though, he'll be able to get out of it, so we are planning to "kitten-proof" that whole bedroom for him, so that he can have it all to himself.

We'll be moving to a one-bedroom apartment with cheaper rent on July 1st though, so that we can start saving money for a house. He won't have his own room anymore, but by then he will be 12 weeks old, bigger, and hopefully able to hold his own should a scrap occur! At least Tasha is not interested in chasing him at all, so hopefully Bailey will get the hint to leave her alone if she swats him a few times. And yes, I will definitely be keeping her nails more regularly trimmed!
