No matter what type of treatment I decide, he still will be home, caged, for a week if we do surgery, for 4 weeks if we see if he can heal on his own. I am beginning to lean towards seeing if that femur will heal on its own ... & if not, have the amputation. I feel really badly for not just jumping into the surgery, & i know i dont *have* to justify it ... but i feel like i need to anyway.
Apparently all 5 vets in the practice who saw the Xray & saw him over the few days, feel he is very strong & young & may very well heal on his own. Yes, he may have a limp or one leg a little shorter, but they think there is a decent chance. They cant give me a real number, (originally said 35-40% chance it will heal, but with his age & health, maybe better odds) but they said based on his overall health & his ability even at this stage to get around & move & his pain seems totally under control (they all, from the vet to the techs to the front desk girls, raved about him ... saying he is SO cute, & purred while watching them all work, & "chirrped" when they opened the cage to pet him ... more than one offered to take him home! NO WAY! lol). *IF* money were no object OR if the $1500 surgery was needed to save his life, then i wouldnt hesitate. But just the emergency visit & treatment that i had to pay today was $600.

I will keep Zuri in my prayers that he heals up and you don't have to have any surgery done on him.
One word of caution with the financial stuff - usually, a big hospital like Angell has a finance program (different than financial help where organizations give you money toward treatment) - it's like applying for a credit card and you have to pay it back, usually with interest.
