Thomie has Cat Acne!

The fun never ends in our household! LOL I called the vet today to report how Boots is doing so much better, and then asked why Thomie has a dark splotch on her chin that won't go away. She said she likely has cat acne....who knew? LOL I am supposed to use a Stridex (alcohol free) pad on her chin once a day for 10 days. I hope that helps. I am trying to be extra vigilant about making sure her food & water dishes are very clean since I suspect maybe that's how she got this? (Dh hadn't cleaned the water dish downstairs often enough....he would put fresh water in each day, but that's it. I scolded him about it. I guess I have to do everything myself. LOL)

Is this what you do to treat your kitties with acne at your vet practice, Cat?

Have a great Saturday everyone!

My vet said it could be from fleas. Also, I read some products/bowls are made out of something that could break your cat out. Have you ever had a week where you didn't have a vet visit???!!! I have 14 cats and 4 dogs and don't go as often as you do!!! (just kidding) donna

Thank you Cat! I sure hope she doesn't end up with an infection. You know how much fun it's been pilling cats for me this year. LOL! I love your cute siggy!

LOL! You may not believe me, but with my first cat Missy I only took her for her annual exam/immunizations and she never got sick. (Until after 15 years). With dh's three original cats (Boots, Patches & Thomie) we only ever took them in for their annual exams (with the rare exception of once when Patches had an eye infection and once when Boots had food intollerance). I don't know why, but I really think God is testing me this year. Otherwise I can't explain why beginning in January I had so many visits to the emergency room for one or both of my elderly parents due to various ailments/falls over a 6 month period, and then beginning in June when I rescued Misha, it's been virtually non-stop with our cats! (Not to mention dh's back surgery in August). If I didn't have a sense of humor, I'd have a nervous breakdown. Giggle! I will suggest to my vet that she puts up a plaque with our photo & names with "Clients of the year" on it. LOL! I am positive now that the worst is over, and am praying hard that after treating Thomie's skin condition that all the cats will be healthy. ;-) I still have behavioral issues to contend with (The older cats, especially Patches, are still attacking my two new babies). I'm taking one day at a time and am just grateful that I've stayed healthy! (Knock on wood!). I'm really thinking I should consider a career as a vet tech after all this. LOL

Bless your heart & your sweet 14 cats & 4 dogs (How do you do it? Wow! I thought I had a lot of work with 5 cats & 3 chinchillas....tee! hee!)

Take Care!

Oh Tiger...did the acne clear up soon after you took him in? I guess it's fairly common, huh?

I had him in for teeth cleaning and they told me he had it. They shaved the hair there a little and said just keep it clean, sounded like no biggy! look it up under symptons or ?? on the symptom checker and it may tell more!
