I have a cat that is always tipping the water bowl over. he has done this for as long as i can remember (about 12 years) I got a supposedly no-tip bowl but somehow he still manages! In the process he gets the water all mucked up with cat litter. I can't leave open containers or glasses or cups unattended either. he just has this thing where he's gotta knock it over. Has anyone else had this problem? I tried a rabbit waterer but they just don't get how to use it ( I have three in all - static, emily and goliath)

Hi Jeni and *WELCOME* to Cats! Many people have this problem with cats and their water/food bowls. I would first check out petco or petsmart and see what they have for weighted or other types of bowls - some have the kind you can put sand in the bottom of, others have ones that are raised slightly that the bowl sits in. There are just some cats that love to play with water. Good luck to you and please tell us more about your furbabies!

Hi Jeni, yes my Turbo has to knock every glass or water bottle over! I try to keep them well attended LOL! Also they like to actually move their water dish across the floor, sometimes they dont spill any water, dont ask me how:) Welcome!

Take care, Robin, Turbo, & Nala.

Hi Jeni- I also have a kittybrat that loves to tip the water bowl, although it's ONLY the water bowl. Mephisto, not only likes to tip it, he likes to flick the water out with his paw. And yes, he gets it all icky with the cat litter. It drives me nuts. Topaz is not a "tipper", ut he also loves to flick water out of the bowl. Out of my five (Mephisto, Topaz, Pandora, Nigel & Isabelle) only those 2 do it. I have just about given up.

I hope you have better luck than I have had.

Hugs,

Laurie & the gang

My Sammy loves to play in water, that is, he will flick water out of his bowl. I often have to put fresh water down for him 3 or 4 times in a day, as he gets kitty litter in the bowl. I might add that he likes to make sure there is water on the floor, when I put down a fresh bowl of water he will bunt my hand just as I am setting the bowl on the floor, and of course causes me to spill some.

Ya just gotta love 'em.

If you can't find a normal bowl that the kitties can't knock over, what about trying one of the water fountains for pets? We've got the drinkwell fountain and that's heavy and sturdy enough with water in it I'd be very surprised if it could be knocked over. Of course, the flowing water could provide an easier way to flick water about, though. LOL!

Good luck!

Sparkle used do do that all the time, but has sinced stopped since I got her the Drinkwell fountain...if you don't want to invest $45+ in that, try a ceramic bowl...those are a little heavier. Sparkle had one b4 the fountain...she didn't spill her water as much, but she was still able to push it around...

I have a petmate water fountain. Within a couple of hours of setting it up Sammy had it apart. Now the removable parts are duct taped so he can't get it apart. He still tries tho and pushes it around. LOL... ya just gotta love 'em.
