Took Daisy to the vet

Between this group & another cat group I belong to, the stories of how
cats hide their illnesses were getting to me. I have personal
experience with this, too, with ^Bonnie^. :( Daisy acts fine, eats
fine, her weight is fine. But almost all of her behaviors have changed
in the last few months. So I made an appointment that took 10 days to
get b/c I wanted the partner who is aggressive & a good diagnostician,
& I wanted an evening appointment.

We went last night. As he was looking at & feeling her, he was saying
everything seemed fine. Then he got out the stethoscope. He listened
to her heart for a v-e-r-y long time. This of course made me nervous.
He ended up saying that she has an irregular heart rhythm (not a
murmur). He said that cats can have this & it often is not a problem.
But of course she's never had it before. The result was that he took
blood & we scheduled an EKG for Tuesday. He'll call me w/her blood
results Friday AM at work.

So Daisy, Miss Moxie & I would appreciate a group purr that all her
tests turn out OK, & that having an EKG is not too horrible for her.
She'll have to be in all day Tuesday while I'm at work. :( Has anybody
else's cat had an EKG?

Thanks,

Katz

Thanks so much! Daisy will be 12 in July. Will she be shaved where the sticky things go? I guess he'll want an US next, if warranted.

It depends on what type of ekg machine they have... ours is an older model and we don't have to shave, we use clips instead of sticky things (not sure they even have the sticky ones like human doctors use)...

As for the ultrasound - yes, they do shave a small area on one side of her chest.

He didn't mention shaving, & I didn't think of it til later. Maybe they tell me that stuff the day I take her in.

Aww. A fuzzy group hug. :) Thanks so much. If it hadn't been for the posts here & on the other cats board, I never would have put it together. I've always known that cats' bevavior is cyclical, & for a while I just figured she was starting a new cycle of behaviors. But then I realized that there were a lot of changes.

I hate worrying about my furkids. :(

I feel bad as when Tiger died in May it was very sudden from fluid in his chest from either a tumor or his heart. I think back and he may have been ill for awhile as slep a lot and ate less but I just thought it was he was getting older and he seemed fine otherwise,it may not have mattered and I would have put him through a lot of tests for nothing

Yeah, that's what made me go to the vet. All the stories of cats hiding the illness. ^Bonnie^ had advanced cancer, & the (former) vet & I both missed it. Then ^Abby^ died suddenly of unknown causes.

I forget whether it was here or the other board where someone said her cat, who had a fairly harmless heart murmur, had become more clingy. She took him to the vet, & it turned out his murmur had gotten worse. One of the changes in Daisy is that she has become more clingy...
