Tucker's weight

My little Tuck weighed himself this morning and discovered that he weighed 10 pounds. That is alot for a 7 month old kitty. I think. He is kind of chubby. What should I do? He is eating the same adult cat food as the girls, Eukanuba Hairball. I am leary about putting him on the weight management formula because he needs to protein for his growth.

I do free feed them. I could stop that but not without hearing it from the girls. I sure I would find gifts in the bed.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Bridgett, Badness, Scrappy and Tucker

Ps. He really did weigh himself. Well, okay, he was sitting on the scale so I read his weight.

Wow! He's going to be one big boy.

I've heard that cats are actually considered physically full grown by 8 or 9 months (as opposed to one year), so he may be okay. Some male cats are REALLY big.

What does his vet think?

:::hides face in embarrassment:::

I haven't talked to the vet yet cuz I am afraid I will get reamed for letting him get chubby.

I would just watch and maybe that is his weight,I know Ellie has a little round belly but then she is 4 months. Tiger weighed a good 14 to 15 pds and was just a big cat!

My 2 year old kitty Graystone weighed in about 10 lbs. when he was that age. He now weighs between 16-17 lbs. I was worried about his weight too, but his vet said he was perfectly fine seeing as how he is a big muscle cat. He has a very large frame and doesn't eat any differently than our other 3 cats. He plays like crazy and runs around so I think that helps keep his weight from being more than it is now. On the contrary, we have a 1 1/2 year old kitty, Clapton, that looks thin, but weighs 12+ lbs. He has a very different body shape from Gray...he is long and lean.

I personally think a cat's weight has a lot to do with their body shape/frame.

Neo weighed about 10 pounds when we took him in for his shoots when he was 8-9 months old. He's just a big cat, and not fat just BIG. I would see what your vet has to say - sometimes cats are just naturally bigger.

Wow Tucker is getting to be a big boy. If you think he is getting too fat you may just have to feed the kitties a couple of times a day and not leave food out all of the time. I'm having to do that now with 2 of my cats on different diets and now Pumpkin on kitten food.

He is definitely going to be a big kitty. No doubt about that. But...he does have a tummy. Like he swallowed a canteloupe.
