Update - Neighborhood Strays

Good news on the neighborhood stray cat front! I followed through on all of the suggestions given to me here, and on the Rescue board. There will be temporary cat shelters in the neighborhood this winter, and there will still be people putting food out. I'm working on an idea for a metal tray to keep it on, to collect heat from the sun during the day and keep the water from freezing.
The Humane Society gave me a copy of the contract they use for participants in their Trap, Spay/Neuter and Release program. Some of the neighbors are up for getting an occasional coffee group together, to discuss and share resources - some will put out food, like me, and some will be able to provide the temporary shelter the cats will need before they are released out into the environment, and equally important is that some people just know everyone out there! I'm going to buy a live trap to loan out, so nobody has to pay the daily rental fee for the Humane Society's.

We don't have a date set for the first coffee clatch yet, but I'll post an update after we do.

That's such wonderful news!
