Weird Cat Behavior

This is the first time I've posted here regarding one of my pets. My 7-year-old cat, Remington, did something over the weekend that he has never done in the entire time that I've had him (since he was 6-7 weeks old). I woke up on Saturday morning and there was a spot on the carpet about 3" around that had been licked until the carpet pulled from the backing.

Has anybody else ever "shared" this experience with their cat(s)?

Any insight to this particular weird cat behavior is SOOOO appreciated.

That is weird,do you think somethig was spilled there. The dogs used to do that if lotion or something had gotten on.

My vet once told me that cats will sometimes lick or chew on sweaters or other types of fabric when they are deficient in ceratin nutrients. Have you changed his diet or anything?

Good luck!
