I'm very new to this board (or any for that matter) and I have a random question...thought...need for advice...

I have a cat that I've had for about two years now and a few months ago I put her outside. She LOVES it!! I wish I would have done it a long time ago. Well, since she had been inside, I'm afraid of what she will think of the cold weather. I live in Tennessee and while it doesn't get too terribly cold here in the winter, it is cold enough when you are use to saying in the house all of the time. Any suggestions as to how I can keep her comfortable this winter?

I have both inside-only cats and cats that come in/out as they please. I put a small doghouse on each porch for the cats to get in when its cold or rainy. You can put hay in it and I put a couple of cardboard boxes under my house where the cats can get out of the wind and cold. Also have a small childs swimming pool under the house with hay in it. You may find that your outside cat will want to stay inside during some cold days and at night.

Wow, thanks for all of the ideas/advice.

I knnow it is best for her to be inside, but she really does appear to love it outside. A few weeks ago she had to go to the vet to have a piece of glass removed (I know, I know another reason to keep her inside). He told me to keep her inside for a while, which I tried to do. Every time I tried to open the door, she tried to squeeze through my legs to get out. It was like she was standing at the door saying, "Let's see how fast I can get out without being squished between the door and her legs." When I wouldn't let her out, she just stood at the door and meowed. I am going to get her a house for my front porch, right now she is curling up in a butterfly chair I keep on my front porch. She is just like a little dog. When I come home from work, she is there to greet me at the door, when I leave for work, she is there to see me off. When I go outside and call her name, she comes running.
