Well, a puppy followed my home last week.  Couldn't find the owner.  She's

a chiuaua mix. I can't even spell it.  I've notice that when we try and hold her, when she has

something else she wants to do, she growls horribly.  We've been her in a time out in her crate.  Is

This normal for little dogs??

It depends on the dog.  Usually small dogs like to be held....but not all of them.  My mom had a chihuahua for almost 12 years and she just was not a friendly dog.  She was wonderfull with my mother but didn't like other people.

Since you found this dog you really don't know what her backstory is; she could have been abused and equates being held with being hurt.  She may have a medical problem like a sprain that may cause her pain when she is held.

Have you had her evaluated by a vet?  If you rule out medical issues, then maybe she just doesn't like to be held.  You and your home are also very new to her; she needs time to feel comfortable with you, your family and her surroundings.  I'm sure that with lots of love, patience and time she will soon become a wonderful companion animal.

Bless you for giving her a home...and please continue to keep us updated.
