I know this isn't anything new, but I'm a little behind the times (LOL) and was wondering if anyone here feeds it? I see a lot of manufacturers are making it now. Right now, I do mostly cooked foods with a little grain free canned for variety

My dogs thrive on a raw diet. Once you have your sources in place, and a routine established, I find it easy to feed and the dogs LOVE it. I don't even have to pick up the yard since their stools are small, oder free, and crumble within 2-3 days. I got a huge upright freezer at a garage sale, stocked up on large stackable rubbermade containers. I feed mostly chicken necks & backs (bought in bulk from grocery store), ground beaver & fish from a local furrier (not good if you object to trapping), and every November several friends get together & process deer carcasses. Non dog friends empty their freezers of old meat before hunting begins, and butcher shops often have leftover meat some hunters never pick up after processing. If there are lots of raw feeders in your area, try to find or start a buyers group to get wholesale prices. I can't believe how cheap it can be - I have 5 large dogs, and spend less than I would on dry kibble. Of course, the money flows differently because you buy in bulk rather than a little each week. The venison is free except for a couple gifts for my hunter friends and the work we put into it...

We've never done a BARF diet but I do know one former CL who used it with her dog who had major food allergies, and it was working well for them.

For anyone that is interested, we've been feeding Nature's Variety Instinct Raw for a week now and they dogs are loving it! Between that and the last beef bone we gave them, they haven't got a speck of tartar on their teeth anymore and we were able to cancel their dental cleaning. Wish I took some before and after pictures to show. Oh well. Must be the enzymes in the raw food?? Bye for now. The ads that keep making the pages jump up and down are enough to keep me away from ivillage lately. LOL

Glad to hear they are doing well! Good to hear their teeth are clean. Good luck, and stop back in sometime to let us know how they are doing!
