Hello,

My name is Tina & I have a dog name Savanna that turns 2yrs old on March 5th, she is half German Shepherd/half Alaskan Husky, she is medium sized but looks German Shepherd. I'm having problems with her & since I live in a rural area it was hard to socialize her & dog training is 1 1/2 to 2 hrs away from us.  Problems I have with her are:

Leash Aggression

Dog-dog Aggression

I would love to take her to dog training but $ is one issue & distance is the other, if there is any suggestions & advice that would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

Tina

Hi, there.  Your Savanna is gorgeous!

I'm not really sure how to help w/other dog agression.  My doggy never had that problem, but she was terrible at walking on a leash at first.  She's still not great, but getting better.  Are you talking about when going on walks?  If so, I find bringing treats along in your pocket is handy.  Anytime she's behaving nicely (even for a split second)you give her a treat & positive reinforcement.  If she's behaving badley, you stop the leash, have her sit, & then give her a treat.  If you're talking about leash agression when chained in a yard, I'm afraid I have no advice.  I think that all dogs get antsy in that situation. :/

Hope this helps. :)

Hello Laura,

Thank you for the compliment on Savanna! I looked at the link, thank you, we still have to get here spayed and we have been keeping her away from other dogs because of her behavior issues. And were not able to go to dog training right now.

She likes being alpha so that always causes fights.

Glad to be here!

Tina

Hi Tina and Welcome to the Board.  I'm Laura and I'm the furmom to a 7YO lab/mix Cleo.

Your Savanna is just beautiful!!  I used to volunteer at a German Shepherd rescue....and I know what wondeerful dogs they are.

Here is a llink to some information that may assist you:

Be sure that your girl gets lots of stimulation and exercise; shepherds are working dogs and do best when they are active.

Please be sure to keep us updated amd let us help you im any way that we can.
