Fiona is freezing!

Hi everyone.

It's starting to get a little cooler here in the midwest.  Since we got Fiona in May, it's been horribly hot here.  This morning it's in the 50s, & she just can't handle it.  We put her in the yard w/her Basset Hound friend from next door like every morning.  They usually play together, but this morning Fiona just whined at the door to come in.  We let her in, & she went straight back to bed.  What is she going to do when winter comes, & it's actually cold?  How can we dress a Pitbull to be comfortable outside?

Thanks!

Sweatshirts are more comfortable than coats, more forgiving in fit, and easier to launder.  You still might want a fleece-lined parka for the worst of the winter.

I would give a sweater, sweatshirt or coat a try for her and see how she likes it! We have small dogs and when it's the dead of winter (during a normal winter as opposed to last year) they absolutely need a coat on or the cold goes right through them (it does not take long for their core temperature to drop) so we have found them necessary at times. Some dogs actually like wearing them so I would look for one that seems like it will be very comfy and test it out.

Thanks for the replies.  We went out today & got her a pink fleece.  The lady at Petco said that you only need the parka if we plan on doing a lot of walking in the dead cold.  I just don't know how cold it's going to be & how much she's going to want to go out when it's that cold.  I guess we'll see how it works.  The fleece does seem more comfy.  And she looks super cute. :smileyhappy:
