Aargh!

I suppose this could fit up nder animal issues too!

Dh feeds treat to teh cats from a bag of treats he keeps near his computer in his office. Thursday, that area (but luckily not the contents of the bag) was SWARMING iwth litle black ants. SO heput out poison bait for them and locked the cats out of the place (I insisted becasue even though it SAYS that the bait isn't toxic to furries, I could just see them stepping in the bait adn then licking their feet adn then...)

Anyone else have issues with ants and pet food storage? Any soutions beyond poison?

I think we used the gel which is a combination bati/poison. It worked but I was worried about the cats. SO I forced DH to lock them out of his office for teh duration. No ants but three very unhappy cats who were use to being fed treats in there! I surely did hear about it from mouthy little Kathy, the food addict!

Never found the entry point so spreading diatomaceous earth (whcih is what we used to use to combat roaches - AKA Palmetto Bugs --- Floridians are convinced they don't have roaches! LOL --- in FL)

When I saw this I thought of this message....there are a couple of "non-poisonous" methods that may be helpful:

The only problem I ever had with ants and pet food was years ago when I forgot to pick up my dog's dish and it was down overnight...when I woke up the dish was covered in ants.

My problem has sometimes been mice in years past.
