I love to collect bird houses, both decorative and functional.

If I can do it without scaring the birds or causing any harm, I'm going to try and get some pictures.

http://www.sialis.org/nests.htm - have you checked any websites like this one to compare your eggs? Speckled... hmmm... wren, maybe?

Yes, it might be a wren....I'm hoping to actually see the bird this weekend.

The one egg still hasn't hatched.....I hope it's OK.

I was going to check the nests today; when I went out to fill the bird feeder I noticed a bird perced on the shepherd's hook.

My DH just pointed out to me that we have two nesting birds around our front porch! Tree is a perfectly good birdhouse in the River Birch tree nearby but the wren has claimed the space above the downspout and the robin (she, or a close relative, used to use that downspout that the wren moved into!) has claimed the clematis vine! And both are defending vigorously against anyone getting into their spaces! Which means the front door is off limits for a while, I suppose!

Last year one of my clients mentioned that a bird had claimed her door wreath for a nest.
