Finally in California (actually, we arrived on Wednesday but...

Wildlife spottings: turkeys, all in singles though. California mule deer --- all seemed to be in pairs! And harbor seals! It's pupping season and they are hauled out on on of The Sea Ranch beaches, which is now banned to residents and patrolled by volunteers to keep people from bothering the mothers and pups.

The sun finally came out --- and it's our last day here! FIgures! Oh well, a deer in our yard yesterday afternoon and a turkey this AM --- so the wildlife are out as well, enjoying the lack of rain!

Closing the house tomorrow and heading off to the airport for an early morning flight Thursday. Be back on the boards by the weekend!

Saw my first turkey actually fly today, and my first male turkey with tail spread (he was guarding chicks of the year!). Also a pregnant doe in our back yard and two more down the road. Does are ready to drop fawns any day now, I think, although each seems to be accompanied by last year's baby...
