DH told me he was driving home yesterday from a meeting in Bowling Green (our closest "city") and on his way out of town, there is a small woodlot he had to pass through and he spotted a falsh of red at the forest edge. Lo, and behold, a fox, licking it's belly!

Now I've seen foxes a our California place but it is wilderness, almost (also has mountain lions, although, luckily, I have never seen one of those, and bob cats). But they seem to be becoming more plentiful here in semi-rural agricultural NW Ohio. And apparenlty are a plague on barn cats...

Overpopulation in many areas have caused all type of wildlife to seek alternative means of food...which means that they will often show up in areas that are not usual, or become bolder.

Updare: As I was driving home form Toledo last Tuesday night, I saw this large orange "cat" cross the road right where I turn to get into our neighborhood. But it wasn't a cat --- the tail was too bushy adn it wasn't walking like a cat. It was a red fox! The first I've seen here!

I remember that red fox that was hanging around our property last year.
