Check out who was hanging around two days ago, hoping someone, anyone, would come to the bird feeder!

She (don't know why, but to me, this Cooper's Hawk is a she) was there for some time, and the usual birds must have seen her becasue they didn't come to feed (and be fed upon).

Smart bidies.....LOL....  I don't know much about birds, but I do see a lot of hawks in and around my community.  I don't think I've ever had an issue in my own yard.....but last year I think "something" might have happened because I didn't see birds in my yard for a long time.  Then suddenly they were back.

DH showed this picture to the county parks naturalist and he says it's a male --- something about the oclor around the beak...

Yes, little birds are smart --- they know a hawk when they see one and keep away. But our neighbor said she saw a hawk make a kill (a sparrow-like bird was the victim) at our other neighbors' so mayb he wasn't so hungry as I thought...

I wanted to put this in a new thread but with the Message Board disaster I can't post new threads.
