Good tips there Chris. I have used a damp hand to get pet hair off of my couch, but never tried a damp face cloth.
Jane's rubber glove trick seems to work the best for furniture.
Our central vac has a power head attachment with a rotating brush and it really does a good job of picking up the fur. When I don't want to get the vac out I use a rubber glove. We also have a Dyson hand vac with a power head attachment with a rotating brush that does the same but better for smaller jobs.

I have also don't the glove, wash cloth, the othe day when I went to vacuum out my car...that vacuum didn't touch Skye's bed in the car....my hand rolled it up for the vacuum to pick up
I have a powerful vacuum and I find it still needs the beater bar to get the fur up off the fabric. Now your hand can be the beater bar too.
I think I had one of those Gonzo Sponges once, or something similar anyway. I never used it because I couldn't stand the feel of it. Have you used one? I imagine it would work because it felt damp and sticky.
