Hurricane Sandy.

Looking at the Weather Network, it looks like Hurricane Sandy is going to hit on the west coast and will effect New York state.  The news on the radio is that the transit system in New York city is closed as of 7:00 p.m.   Hopefully, none of you are in its path and won't have anything to worry about.  Jane and I living in southern Ontario and along the great lakes may have to contend with lots of rain and high winds, even though we are both miles apart, but this storm is quite expansive.  We do live miles apart, but we are in the great lakes basin.  Thankfully, we are not in the direct "hit" zone, but we will feel the effects of this storm.  We may get wind gusts of over 60 mph, on Monday and going into Tuesday morning.  Then again, when this type of weather comes up, it is often hyped up.  So maybe we will just get a lot of rain.

LOL....My Misha was getting ready for the heavy rain as she spent most of the afternoon cuddled up under my plastic table cloth.  She did come out from her rain cover to grab a snack earlier.  At the moment it's 9:40 p.m. and she's snuggled up on her blanket on the futon and Sammy is stretched out on my lap.

Its been a cold and damp day here, lots of rain and cold temps.  I have been wearing my comfy and warm heavy cotton lounging pants and a similar shirt all day.  They are warm and comfy and Sammy loves to be on my lap for the warmth.  Not to mention he keeps me warm and comfy too.   LOL....My macho boy doesn't  mind his nose and ears being scatched while he's on my lap.

Having said all of that, we are buttoning down for what Sandy is bring us, but as we are a good distance away, I am hoping and praying for the folks in NYC.  Hopefully, none of you are in its path.

All the best,

The Canadian Red Cross is telling people to get emergency supplies together to last for 72 hours.  I've never heard of this kind of announcement before and am hoping this is all media hype.  I am prepared just in case with things I can eat that don't need to be cooked or heated up.  Since the big ice storm we had I've always had things on hand for a storm in case, like cans of pork and beans, bread and peanut butter.  I also have lots of pop chips too in case.

I guess we won't know until tomorrow and that's when the rain and winds are supposed to start.

Since we both live on the great lakes we will probably get the high winds.

I put my liner in my coat today as I was freezing when I went to the store yesterday.

I hope hurricane Sandy won't be as bad as they are saying it will be.  We are safe on the other side of the country.  I hope you and Jane won't get hit too bad either.  I wouldn't like those high winds at all.

It sounds like Misha was ready for it napping under the vinyl table cloth.

I'm praying for the people in NY too and where ever else Sandy hits.  And you too.

That's something that the Canadian government has a warning out to get your supplies together.  Let's hope they are wrong.  After being in that ice storm that one year you know what you need to do.  I hope you have a generator so you can have some kind of heat.  Keeping you in my prayers.

Thanks Mary. We are just kind of uneasy waiting to see what happens. Dh has to go to the new house this week so hoping this storm isn't too bad. I'll pass on your kisses to M&M. Kisses back to your sweet furpack.

We don't often get warnings from the Red Cross so it is kind of worrisome.  I was watching some of the tv news this morning and all the idiot reporters are out standing in the rain on the beaches along the east US coast trying to make it look worse than it is.  Usually when the storm does get bad they are long gone.  LOL

We don't have a generator but the nights have been in the high 40's so not like winter time.  We still have my dh's wilderness big sleeping blanket we used in the ice storm.  I just hope we don't lose power.

We'll just have to wait and see I guess.

I hope everyone in the path of the storm stays safe and has power! Our thoughts and prayers are with you all. Please check in if you can so we know you're safe, and let us know how the storm is affecting you.

Jessica posted an update on the Help Boards, and will keep adding updates as long as they have power.

Sending positive thoughts...
