Until I found this secret garden this past Saturday - after losing my best-ever companion on Friday - I hadn't thought about keeping some fur or fluff from my friend.

Hello Dear Naydeen:
How very sorry I am to hear of the sad and terrible loss of your furbaby. No words can comfort you at this time I know, but the friends on this site are very compassionate and understand your pain.
What a touching idea to salvage the fur from your dear one, J.D., and it is so sweet that you have found some more of your baby to remember him by.
Like you, when I took my dear little Nikki on her final trip to the Vet, I was not thinking straight - and certainly not any ideas of saving her fur or anything. I was too distraught. However, I had a very lovely card from the Vet later - and included was a laminated card with her name, picture, paw print and a lock of her hair. Now the tears come again after over a year. I am so grateful the Vet did this kind deed, and the memory lives on with these personal items.
So I do understand how you feel and pray that peace comes to you soon.
Deepest condolences.
Love and prayers,
Marge

When I had to put my cat Missy to sleep on October 21, 2008, the vet suggested that I put some of her fur into a necklace, and I did just that. I have it in a cross necklace, and I wear it everyday. It helps to know that she is with me wherever I go.
