I miss him

A month ago my chihuahua Rasta passed away and I am having an extremely hard time dealing with it. He was the nicest, most lovable dog, well behaved and loving and adorable. I find myself longing for his presence and I wake up and go to sleep crying every day. Perhaps it's been much harder to deal with because he was only five years old and I feel the unfairness of his life being cut short. He was very sick as a puppy and as a result of pnemonia only had one functioning lung. Fast forward five years later and the pneumonia returned only this time it was fatal. Some days I feel like I can barely function and I'm so full of grief. I find my apartment reminds me of him as well. Sometimes I will be out doing things and I will be fine because I'm distracted but then a vision of him will randomly pop into my head and I burst into tears. I just miss him so much and having a hard time overall, and wondering when it will get easier, less painful.

Thank you so much for your kind words Devon, they really were helpful. It's always comforting to hear advice and feel support from others who can understand the same type of grief i am going through. So sorry to hear about your loss of Pogo. At least our babies are not suffering anymore and we gave them great lives and tons of love while they were here. Hopefully we will see them again, since I truly believe that dogs and cats go to heaven. Be well and again thank you for your kind, helpful words.

The world certainly did become a little less bright the day your beloved ^Rasta^ earned ^his^ wings. I'm so sorry for your loss. I will be praying that you will be comforted in your pain. It took me many many months to stop crying when my beloved ^Shadow^ earned her wings almost sixteen months ago. I still cry.
Take it one day @ a time ^Rasta's^ mom---sometimes one minute @ a time--
Let us know how you are doing. You do have friends here that truly understand and care.

With My Heart,

^Shadow's^ Grandma

Hi Mark thank you for writing. It's been 2 months since I lost my wonderful Rasta and time has helped but the feeling never truly goes away. I find myself able to smile or even laugh at the good times, but it's often followed by tears and longing. I feel fortunate to have known him. I read Bickys story and could tell how much you love and cared for your fur baby. It's a comfort to have others on this board who know what I'm experiencing. I hope they're keeping each other company and having a great time up there. Rasta loved all people and all dogs. Hope you're well too. "what we have once enjoyed we can never lose. Thank you Shadows Grandma. You're kind words mean a lot to me. All dogs go to heaven and I know our angels are up there running through endless fields and keeping each other company. We were lucky to have them bring so much happiness and unconditional love into our lives.
