Believe me, it is so hard not to feel guilty about having to put a fur-child to sleep. Our heads can tell us over and over that it was best "logical" decision, but it is never the best emotional decision. Quite the opposite. And I can completely feel your pain about the kidney disease because that's what my kitty cat ^Lizzie^ had, and she was only about 8 or 9 years old. What a dreadful disease to steal away our precious loved ones before we're ready to let go!

Even though I did feel it was time to adopt again last Friday, I also felt so guilty about bringing another kitty into the home. My ^Lizzie^ is buried in the backyard, and I sat by her grave just sobbing and apologizing and telling her I would never stop loving her. I told her that there is enough love in my heart for 1,000 kitties and no one would ever take her place. I would just make a new place for Firefly. I'd like to believe that ^Lizzie^ knew I was suffering being alone in the house and just nudged me in the direction to find Firefly.

Maybe down the road you will be able to make a place in your heart
