I love my new cat! She's 2 and was living in a no-kill shelter. She's sweet, affectionate, loves to play and roll around and has an odd habit of chasing shadows (literally)

but, this also brought back some bittersweet memories of my old cat who died 6 months ago, and even my even older cat who died 2 years ago. But particularly the one who died 6 months ago, as my new cat looks identical to her. I'm hoping I didn't choose her only because it's like having my old cat back again. Is that bad? It's also very weird seeing my new cat walk around my house and I get a deja vu because it's like my old cat is alive again.

I agree, it's an awesome thing you have done. I think all our furbabies would want us to have another pet to love and to help out one in need is just a greater way to share your love. I do think there is no greater gift than to help someone out even when it is painful or difficult for you to do so. And I think we are always guided to the right one for us, whatever that might be. Some people prefer pets that remind them of the ones they lost, others find it too difficult. If you picked her because she reminds you of another cat, that is definitely NOT wrong. If that is part of what heals your heart and makes you love her all the more, that is always a good thing. I am sure for everything about her that might remind you of your other cat, you will find a dozen little things she does that is uniquely her, and your love for her will be as individual as she is.

It is a good thing.... You know as well any one, every cat is different. That new baby of yours well have you wrapped around it's paw before you know it.
And I'm sure will stand alone with his very own, wonderful personality.
Have fun....there is a new baby in your house.
