Too soon to get a new cat?!

Hi Everyone,
Thank you for your kind words, my Mickey cat passed away about a week and a half ago. We knew that he only had a few weeks left and we made the best of them.
Last week was rough, it was probably the lowest time for me in my life (have also been going through a lot of job stress while Mickey was sick) but the last 48 hours, I've been feeling better and happy. I definately felt like Mickey was looking down on me yesterday when I got a job offer.
What brings me here is that the other day, I felt particularly sad about not having someone to take care of (hubby and I do not have children yet, Mickey was like my first child. We have another cat but she's more my hubby's and is also very independant) so my husband offered to take me to PetSmart to look at the cats up for adoption. We go and right away one cat starts rolling and pawing at the glass and my hubby encourages me to fill out an application. A volunteer then comes out and takes the form and asks my hubby and I if we want to go into the little room and see the cat. Smokey was just the sweetest thing, my hubby picked him up and the cat was playing with some toys. I felt a little sad thinking about Mickey but for the most part, I felt happy being around these cats that needed homes and it was the first time in awhile that I've felt happy.
I know of 2 people that have gotten cats through the foster agencies at PetSmart and both did not get their first choice so I doubted that I would get Smokey but his foster owner left two messages. I called her after my job interview and she asked me a few questions and then told me that Smokey was mine if I wanted him.
I talked it over with my mother and with my husband, both think its a good idea to adopt him. My DH in particular really liked Smokey. The weird thing is that I really can't find one huge reason for not taking the cat in, after all, he does need a home. I won't ever forget Mickey, and will always miss him but I also feel like Mickey is giving his blessing on this as well. Mickey was with me when I had my second interview today and ultimately got the job, so I feel like he's with me and ok with this.
Am I crazy for getting a new cat this soon? I can get Smokey as early as Friday. Has this happened to anyone else? Should I be feeling bad? Advice please....

P.S.
I have been a bit lonely, my husband works full-time and is also very busy with school so I think that he thinks I could use a cat of my own for the times that he is unavailable...if that makes any sense.

NO, I DON'T FEEL THAT IT'S TOO SOON FOR YOU TO GET ANOTHER CAT. YOU REALIZE THAT IT WON'T BE MICKEY AND THAT SMOKEY WON'T BE TAKING MICKEYS PLACE, SO IF YOU FEEL IN YOUR HEART THAT SMOKEY IS THE ONE FOR YOU... GO FOR IT. MICKEY WOULD WANT YOU TO GIVE YOUR LOVE TO ANOTHER WHO NEEDS A HOME. HE KNOW YOU LOVE HIM AND ALWAYS WILL. GOOD LUCK IN YOUR DECISION !!!
