Gemini was adopted yesterday.  This morning I picked up Taurus.  Nine years old, 18 pounds.  Friendly, playful, but a big-time leg lifter.  OMG what have I gotten myself into????  And I banged my head smartly on the corner of the desk, trying to get a belly band on him.

Going to harness him up and walk him all the way around the park.  Maybe he will be exhausted and sleep for a couple of hours.

What a cute face!  He looks like a very happy boy!  It will take a while for that testosterone to get out of his system so I think you will have male problems with him for a while - leg lifting (that needs training) and humping.....  And I'm sensing a name theme here Wink

He's a cutie! I wonder how long it will take for him to learn about the leg lifting and humping. How is he getting along with Anya?

Anya is Alpha here.  No doubt about it.  She told Taurus to sit down and shut up just once, and he leaves her alone.  Poor Jabaar, however, doesn't get a moment's peace.  I put some water and a little white vinegar in a spray bottle, and every time Taurus tries to mount Jabaar, I yell NO and squirt him in the face.  It seems to be working, but I don't want Taurus to hate me, either.

41 dogs in the intake.  Most signs of the Zodiac are represented.  (I don't think they named anyone "Cancer."  That would be terrible marketing.)

I always say the first three days with an animal are the worst.  Today is day 3, and I no longer hate him.

He is eating his meals when served, not food aggressive, takes his pills without a problem, and naps occasionally instead of constantly humping Jabaar.  Sleeps all night in his crate.  Knows his name.  Comes when called.  I went out for about an hour to do some errands, and left all the dogs loose in the house (diaper on Taurus).

But housebreaking is proving to be a challenge.  He poops outside, but still thinks he can hike his leg just any old place he happens to be standing.
