Another loved pet crosses the bridge

Eleven years ago I adopted a Beagle Rottweiler mix from the rescue run by my vet.  Her name was Rylee and she was a wonderful companion to my greyhound, Jester.  She fell in love with my son and I let him have her a year later.  Yesterday sweet Rylee, aged about 13, was diagnosed with a tumor in her sinuses and lymph nodes that has quickly ravaged her and tomorrow, Nov. 7, she will cross the Bridge and run free with Jester and the other wonderful pets that have crossed before her.  Rylee has a special place in my heart, always greets me special love, and will be dearly missed by me, my son, daughter-in-law and canine cousins Greta and Moe.  I have another place in my heart where she will live forever.

Thanks, Laura.  I certainly hope I'm done saying good-bye to well loved pets for the next few years.  Rylee makes four in just a year and a half.  Regardless of the pain in the end, I keep rescueing animals and know for certain that they give more than they ever take.  I'm sure Rylee and my greyhound Jester, are playing tag on the other side, with Jester running slow so Rylee could catch him.

So many times when someone loses a beloved pet they say "never again" because they can't take the pain of loss.  I feel that there are so many deserving furkids out there that how can you "not" take in another one.  I know that my ^Valentine^ sent me Cleo even though I thought it would take so long for me to get another dog after losing her.  It will be 6 years this month that we took her home and I feel so blessed with her.  If it were not for our financial situation right now, I would take in another.  Hopefully if things start to look up that's the first thing I want to do.
