Anya is off food

So rare is it that a pug does not attack a bowl with gusto.  Anya has been slow to eat for the past day or two, and refused breakfast entirely this morning.  She hasn't been vomiting or anything.  Slept fine all night.  Not whimpering or crying.  She is 10, and when I had her in for her checkup in November, her vet said she needed a dental.  I know she had dental work done within the past two years sometime, but maybe her mouth hurts?  I looked in there, and she has many teeth missing.  I will try canned food this evening and see if she will eat that.

Our vet does dentals for half price every February, and I was trying to hold off until then.  Maybe not....

Anya seems OK today.

She does eat the acorns off the ground whenever she goes outside.  Our vet says they are OK; the Native Americans ate them.

I've seen this happen to Taz quite often. If Anya ate and now is not eating and having loose stools - hopefully this will pass. I'm wondering if she did eat something that didn't agree with her.

Well, Anya did it again this morning, so I picked up her food.

She went outside more than usual today, and I noticed she had loose stools.

Fed her some boiled rice and a little canned food for dinner.  Watching...

Hi Gaye, glad to hear anya is back to eating... very worrisome when they don't eat. Coffee will go thru times like that too,,,,, actually ya never know if they've eaten something that looked or smelled interesting around the house either. Remember when Coffee decided to eat ds's earplugs? anyway, thinking you can wait until Feb for the dental.... which will be a good thing. Gee 1/2 price, wish our vet had specialy on something,,, anything... that would be super!

I looked over my 2012 calendar and Anya had a dental last February.

I opened a new bag of dog food, and she ate just fine today.

All of us here are so focused on our furkids that we notice every little thing.  I know there are people that would just shrug off the fact that their dog didn't eat a couple of meals...but if Cleo ever refused a meal I'd probably rush her over to the nearest vet....LOL....

I'm so glad that Anya seems back to normal now.  when we had Cleo for her last exam we were told that she had a couple of "dead" teeth.  I know that at some point we'll need to get her a dental....hopefully not soon.

Well, Anya was in the kitchen before her usual dinnertime, acting hungry.  I had some Blue Buffalo limited ingredient canned food I bought when Roly Poly lived here, and I gave Anya half her usual kibble with canned food mixed in, and she ate it all happily.

It's not like she is skinny and missing a meal is a big deal or anything.  Maybe she was hung over from New Years Eve.  LOL

I will see how she does in the morning.
