Cleo went for her annual exam today....

I had received a card from our vet that Cleo was due for her Lyme booster; when I called to set up an appointment I was told she was overdue for her annual exam.  So, she went this morning.  Poor thing was so scared; she must have first thought she was going to the park....but when I turned in the opposite direction she got nervous.

Everything is fine....I'm so excited that she lost over 7 lbs. since last year!  The lite food and exercise is paying off...the vet was really happy.  The only things were a small cyst she has on her lower eyelid; we have to watch that it doesn't get larger; if it does then it has to come off.  Also, of course, her teeth.  I had bought these dental wipes which are really garbage; so I'll have to go back to the brush/toothpaste.  The vet also gave me some small tartar control biscuits.  She did say that nothing will completely eliminate the tartar she has now, but with more frequent brushing we can keep controlled for a while.  I know at some point she'll have to have a dental.

I won't let DH take her to the park today; I've never liked my dogs getting too excited on the days they go for their exams or get injections.  Hopefully tomorrow will be nice and she can go then.

Hi Laura,

That is great news.  Cleo is healthy and happy.  I don't take Coffee to the park either after injections, she's usually happy to just sleep it all off for the day, so I let her.

I'm happy Cleo has lost the extra weight, it really helps , especially the joints as they age... we have to be careful with Coffee too, she's not overweight but could be as she is just plain food driven, and dil and my dh just love to reward and treat her all the time...  LOL

anyway, great news!

DH went home before and said that Cleo was "flat" on her bed with her head hanging over the side....LOL...  The visit took a lot out of her....

Excellent vet appt.! I'm so glad Cleo lost 7 pounds - that's so significant with dogs! I'm sure she is looking very svelte! Keeping teeth healthy is so important with dogs so if she needs a dental you should go ahead and do it. Dentals are a fact of life when owning Greyhounds so I know how expensive they are but bad teeth can lead to so many other health problems. But I'm preaching to the choir ;) I know you know that completely! :) Anyway, give Miss Cleo a hug for me and tell her she's a pretty, thin girl!!!

Very good doctor visit. That's awesome on the weight loss!  I like those kind of visits. Would you believe Jack has never had a dental? Our vet said his teeth are fine. ;-)

I can see myself that her teeth have some tartar....and we know that she has three "dead" teeth.  I'm just hoping to hold off for a while longer.  ^Samantha^ had her one and only dental at 12YO, and that's only because she was having some fatty tumors removed so I had that done all at once.
