Muddy Paws!!!

OH, the snow and now the rain!  My dogs are making such a mess!  I can't wait for the rain to go away so I can get a grip on the muddy paw print situation.  And Willie is getting mud on his leg feathers, and shaking when he comes in...OOOHHHHH!!!

Rainy days...I have 2 rugs for them to walk on before they hit the kitchen floor, but it doesn't help much!

HAHA!  Stopping my two to wipe their feet would be like running onto the track at Daytona to wipe Dale Earnhart Jr's windshield.  But I sure hate snow and rain!  I wish there was a "neutral zone" like a garage or basement, but my house is bare minimum.  I got tired YEARS ago of having to deal with a gigantic house on 3 1/2 acres, as a single mom.  So I built a small cottage that I can manage more easily on my own.  I'll have to live with the mud!

Hi Karen,
Well I have light beige W2W carpeting, so I have a "dark" throw rug at the terrace door where she exits and enters.  However, before I let Coffee enter the house, I have trained her to sit and look in the door (glass). I open the door and say "patty ver" ( meaning "give me your paw"), she raises her paw and I wipe it clean with a cloth I leave by the door outside, the next one, then the back ones and only then is she allowed to run in.  Even in summer if the terrace door is left open she sits at the door until we go thru that process.

I learned the hard way, long days of vacuuming and vacuuming....  ;O)

Thankfully Cleo walks through the garage before entering the house...so her paws are pretty well dry before she hits the hallway.  Could you leave some wipes or a towel by the door to catch them before they track their little prints?

Oh, you poor thing. I don't let Jack and Taz enter the den (or rest of the house) until they wipe their paws on the rug. They have to enter the basement first before going to the rest of the house.
