What bad dog behaviors are you most concerned about?

The only behavior that bugs me is when I call Jack and Taz to come in they just totally ignore me! They stare back and go back to what they were doing outside. Ugh, that drives me crazy. I end up bribing them with a cookie!! Or, in Taz's case - I walk towards her in a threatening manner and then she comes running to the house LOL!!

I wouldn't classify it as a "bad" bahavior...more annoying. Cleo's constant OCD licking of my tile floors.  It's not only the kitchen...it's the entire floor.  Just annoying...

Oh, gosh!  Being involved in rescue, I've had the gamut of issues.

Top of my list is chewing things up.

Second on the list is "marking" in the house.

Third is going outside and barking up a storm instead of quietly going potty and coming back in.  I know some of my neighbors wish I would move.

Fourth is stealing food.

Yeah - what's up with that? Jack and Taz do the same thing when we're cooking. Taz also licks the carpet (under the dining room table) after we've eaten. She wants to get every drop of crumb LOL

Ok, your third item I can relate to. Jack and Taz go outside to pee or poop but before they do anything they check the yard for any animals or sounds. I've witnessed Taz just bark for the hell of it LOL. I live way out in the country so our neighbors are far but still I wonder what they hear at my back door. Then when I try to get my dogs to come in I'm sure someone hears me screaming!!

The rest of your list my dogs just don't do. I guess I feel lucky, in that regard.

I'm really tired of Comet chewing on my electronic remotes!  He damages them just enough so they don't work anymore.  I found the cordless phone in his bed the other day, too.  He has lots of toys.  I guess they don't give that satisfying crunch like cracking a mother board does.

Oh say, can you see?

Gosh, that's terrible. I can't imagine. Jack and Taz have never chewed on anything like that. But when Jack was a puppy he chewed on the window sill LOL...that's still not fixed ;-(

Edgar Allen Pug chewed the windowsill, too, when he was a puppy. That would have been 1989. It is still a raggedy mess, though it has been painted several times. Moe chewed up the lever that raises and lowers the office chair. Dylan Thomcat completed the destruction of the office chair by ignoring his scratching post and using the back of the chair instead. Each of my daughters' puppies have stolen and chewed shoes belonging to the OTHER daughter. An expensive pair belonging to the well-off daughter. The only pair of decent sandals the struggling daughter owned. The pain was evenly distributed. Anya and Jabaar don't chew things up, but they steal food. Moe was the marker. Jabaar has done it only two or three times.

Barbara - have you tried those toys that you can buy that you put an empty water bottle inside and it covered with cloth? It makes quite a bunch of crunch noises but it safe because it's covered. You should check it out - I bet Comet would love that type of toy!

I'm laughing Terre about your woes in getting your dogs to come inside.  I can just see you glaring at your dogs - LOLOLOL!  Emmy's barking is her bad dog behavior and at this late stage in life, it's not worth it to try and train it out of her.  Buzz had many bad behaviors but his lifting his leg on everything was my top pet peeve!!!!!  So far, Dante is just perfect so no bad dog behaviors... yet....  Wink
