Hi All and Happy Hump Day!  Nice weather here - mid 70's but going to drop to the 50's over the weekend.  I hate this roller coaster of weather!

So the Question of the Week is - what do your dogs do when you come home - what is their ritual greeting?

So Dante is the cutest dog ever with his routine.  He's still afraid of my tile & wood floors so he makes sure his back legs are on his bed (the one in the hallway that looks to the garage.  He sees me coming in the garage door and he starts his pawing/scratching of his front feet like he's digging to China.  It's so dang cute I can hardly stand it LOL!  It's the same thing every time I walk through that door whether I'm gone a long time or just 5 minutes.  I love coming home to him!

Oh my gosh Gaye that's funny about them barking at the window when you come in through another room! LOLOLOL! Because I always used the garage door to come into the house, when I first moved into this house, when the front door bell rang, Emmy & Buzz would run to the back of the house where the garage door is. It was funny!

Some dogs are just like that I guess. Have you checked Cleo's hearing? Maybe she just doesn't hear you coming in?

When I worked, I got "bubbling pugs" at the door from the kitchen to the garage, accompanied by squeals of glee.  Part of that was probably because it was feeding time!

Now that I come and go at different times, and Anya and Jabaar are old (and I think Jabaar is hard of hearing), I often find them asleep in their beds and snoring.  Sometimes even after I've opened the garage door and disarmed the house alarm.  Watchdogs they are NOT!

Sometimes they are confused, and they are happily barking at the front window as I walk in the kitchen door in another room.

I really do miss the "crazy" greetings I used to get from all my former dogs.  Even when we moved down to VA ^Samantha^ and ^Valentine^ would meet me in the hallway with their "full body wag"...they were so happy to see me.

Cleo is very low key.  Either I come home and she's asleep on her bed, or lying on her bed.  If we've been gone long she'll meet me in the hallway with her tail wagging, but not really excited.

But I love her anyway....LOL.....

Usually Jack and Taz are in the bedroom and when they hear the garage door open and my truck drive in they look out the window and rush to the top of the stairs. I can hear their galloping from the basement LOL! They'll wait for me there until I actually come into the house. Sometimes they'll be waiting for me on the other side of the den door. Taz will be barking and Jack will be whining. Then I open the door and they're doing their body wagging which is so cute.

There's nothing better for your mood than your pups being so happy to see you! The jumping up and down thing is very cute! Hopefully they're not doing it on you though!

Down to just one dog, and him being half-blind and deaf, instead of the joyous greeting I used to receive, I have to wake sweet Comet when I get home.  He of course is very happy to see me after he regains a sense of his reality...  I hope he gets a little more stimulated when I retire at the end of March.

Oh say, can you see?

The cutest part of my "welcome home MOMMY!" is William standing at the front window, looking out as I drive up the driveway.  Sometimes Lucy is looking too, but she's usually already at the back door jumping up and down at the window.  William watches me get the mail and looks so excited when I wave to him, then he joins Lucy at the back door and they BOTH jump up and down to see me through the window.  Then they dash outside, I step in, and they dash back in, and the hug fest begins.

William is much more affectionate and attached than Lucy is.  So he joins me in my bathroom to change clothes and shoes, sitting as close as possible.  Lucy?  She just frantically tries to get my attention for toys and games!
