Sorry I'm late with this.  The shelter where I volunteer is having a "Dog Days of Summer" event this week where any dog in the house is $50.  This includes spay/neuter, all shots, city license, microchip and 30-days peet insurance.  I've been there all day.  Busy, busy this afternoon.  Waiting for the day's statistics to come out, but the shelter is open until 6.

Please give us your name, location, your pets names and breeds.

And when does school start where you are?

Hi Gaye - what is "peet insurance"?

Donna here with Emmy, Airedale Terrier/Hound mix, 12 y/o and Buzz, Greyhound, 11 y/o in HOTzona. School started this week!

Had a big family birthday party at my house on Friday for my sister's 50th birthday. It was my first official dinner event in my new house. It was great! I enjoyed it so much! Nice to be able to cook but still be able to talk to everyone. Open floor plans are the best! My old house, my kitchen was enclosed by itself so I never could chat with guests in the living room/family room. Saturday I went to a birthday party for my Realtor and we all had to bring airplane sized bottles of liquor. They are building a bar with these mini bottles. Cool idea!

Pet health insurance.

I learned to type on an old manual typewriter, and then and IBM Selectric for years.  I have small hands, but simply cannot type on this little, flat keyboard on my laptop -- and I'm worse typing on my phone.

The print is so tiny I don't see my typos.

Just be patient with the old lady, please.

Terre from Arkansas checking in with Jack and Taz, Toy Fox Terriers. I have no idea when school starts here. Since we don't have kids I'm not up with the school season or what's going on with schools.

Friday night we ate out after my doctor's appointment - we had something to celebrate. I don't have rheumatoid arthritis and it looks like the prednisone isn't an issue anymore. What I do have is the beginning stages of osteo-arthritis in my knees. And my feet pain is due to plantar fascitis (sp??) so all of that is something I can deal with. Very happy!! Saturday morning we were busying doing stuff around the house, watering and we clipped  the dog's nails. I was tempted to paint Taz's nails but naw she probably wouldn't let me. She would probably roll on the floor in protest LOL! Sunday we went to an open house at dh's workplace. They moved into a brand new facility and they were serving lemonade and cookies. It was a really nice afternoon touring the building and sitting in dh's office. Very nice building.

Hi Gaye,
That's a nice event. I was wondering about "reduced or no fees" when you had Ed (now  freed , I'm happy to hear). He was on the line, but I remember reading that the full cost was still asked, but thinking that when when it comes to the end , why don't they lower the fee or give him to someone ,,, I don't know ... just made me sad,, but happy to know that that event happended (dog days....) Cute name..... All the work you do,, it's just so caring... ((to you))

Suzan in Germany with Coffee who is at the river beach swimming today with her mommy (my dil) ....
School starts on the 16th of September (didn't let out until July 31st though) .

Dog adoption fee is regulaarly $100.  Cat adoption fee is $90.  When they hit the URGENT list, they become half price.  Ed's fee was therefore $50.  But 501c3 rescue groups pull for free from the URGENT list.  If the dog they pull has not been heartworm tested, the shelter charges the rescue only $5.50 to do that.  Rescues pay no fee; however, they do their own vetting.

Dog Days of Summer promo lasts all week.  I'm heading to the shelter this morning to update the bulletin board of URGENT animals.

Currently, the most urgent dogs are Abraham and Barbie.

Abraham is stunning and intelligent, but he is large and powerful and stir-crazy from being in a cage for a month.  He jumps on people.  And he tried to eat the chain link fence in the outside run, making his mouth bleed.  He keeps sabotaging his adoption chances :smileysad:  Abraham needs a strong, Alpha owner.  Perhaps an ex-Marine.

Barbie is a puppy.  She has been a shy, shrinking violet who curls up under her window and hides, and the public just passes her by.  She is really a sweet dog, but she's a Pittie and some people won't even meet her due to the label.
