Roo Ben is back with me

I picked him up from the clinic this morning.  I am frustrated that we still have no diagnosis, and it doesn't appear that the vet clinic did anything for him.  Like the adopter's vet in Shreveport, Rescue's vet recommended referral to a neurologist.  I don't know if Rescue will do that.

Roo Ben is still wobbly and on two prednisone a day.  He has no pain, and is cheerful and otherwise healthy.

Hey there to all my followers. Thanks for all the prayers and good wishes. Keep them coming please. Love ya. RooBen

Well, Roo Ben's troubles continue.  He has a lesion on his side.  Popped up out of nowhere.  I watched it for a couple of days, and it got worse instead of better, so I took him to the clinic yesterday about noon.  I ws hoping he would not have to spend the night, but they work in their rescue patients and did not see him until too late in the day.  Dr. G called me and said it was either a histiocytoma or a mast cell tumor, pending cytology report.  Suggested surgery be scheduled for Wednesday to remove it.

I didn't want Roo to spend all those days in a cage, so I drove over and picked him up this morning.  He is happy to be home, and has had a normal poop in the back yard, so maybe I won't spend tomorrow morning scrubbing diarrhea out of my carpets.

Roo Ben is in good spirits.  He seems happy so far.  Played with my daughter's dogs when we were there.  Still raids the toy box.  Smiles for the camera.

Great day today!  RooBen slept until 6:45 when he whimpered and woke me up.  I let him out, and he went potty.  He ate breakfast well.   I shut all the bedroom doors and left him in the living room (diaperless) with the other dogs when I went to church.  I have to be there early because I'm in the choir, and I stopped at Kroger on my way homem, so I was gone about 3 hours.  There was no mess when I got home!

As a matter of fact, we have had no accidents in the house all day!!!!

I think we can do this!

Roo Ben always slept in a little dog bed on the floor in my bedroom when he lived with me before.  I saw no reason why anything should be different when he came back.  Unfortunately, I woke up Thursday morning to a trail of diarrhea from the bedroom, down the hall, and into the den.  I knew Roo Ben did it, because my two sleep on my bed and can't get down unless I lift them.  All carpeted areas, unfortunately.  I spent an hour on my hands and knees, scrubbing my carpet.  I went to get dressed, turned around, and he had done it again.

I had to leave here at 2 PM on Thursday to stay with my daughter for two days (she had outpatient surgery Friday morning), and I was taking all the dogs with me.  It was too late to make other plans, so I ran to PetSmart and bought doggie diapers and doggie kaopectate.  I know I paid too much for both.  The doggie diapers were $14 for a dozen.

Poor Roo.  He is potty trained, and he knows what he is supposed to do.  He is holding his water OK, but he is having problems with his poo.  It might be the change in food, because the clinic didn't give me any food to transition him, and I have no idea what he was being fed there.  His food here is Purina ONE Beyond.

I had him spend the night in my daughter's spare garage, and last night there was no mess and no puddle, even though I put him to bed without a diaper on.

Maybe the worst is over.  I don't know.  But I went to the dollar store and bought a package of 60 LUVs baby diapers.  They were being discontinued, and I got the whole package for less than $6.  Because he's a pug with a very curly tail, maybe I won't even have to cut a hole.

I'm sure that type of referral is more expensive than the rescue can easily afford, which is unfortunate.  It's always the "not knowing" that's frustrating.  At least he's in good hands with you.....
