I thought I was a stellar pet mommy. I'm guilty as charged. How about you?

Guilty. I always transfer the food from the big bag to a smaller plastic snap-top container. And I can't remember the last time I washed it...

I used to have four containers, because each of my four pets ate a different thing. All were poured out of the bag into a sealed container. The big dog food container is a recycled popcorn can, and I have never washed it. The containers kept the food safe from greedy pets and vermin. I thought I was doing the right thing.
My container is airtight but yes I'm guilty of not cleaning it. I'll start doing that. And to follow Suzan - I wash all doggie bowls at least once a week. They get yucky, especially the water bowls.

We have a laqrge plastic container that we empty the dog food into....and then we transfer a smaller amount to another plastic container in the pantry. Both areas are in the house so they don't suffer from extremes of temperature. But....I've never really thought to clean them out. Now Cleo's food is almost finished....and I'll be sure to do that. I'll also tell DH to keep the kibble in the bag instead of dumping into the container.
You learn something new every day....
I stick all the pet bowls in the dishwasher about twice a week.
The shelter uses each bowl only once, washes them all, and they have a commercial dishwasher that sterilizes them. One volunteer comes in every morning and does nothing but dishes. Even when we do offsite adoptions like PetSmart, every dog gets its' own water bowl.
In all of my lifetime with dogs, we were never that fastidious. I've learned a few things....
