We went to the Pawtucket animal shelter on Friday afternoon with Tanner as a field trip, we had been looking for a golden retriever without spending a thousand dollars on one, and as it turns out there was a Golden and I'll call it lab mix although they say it is a golden shepard mix. She has no indications of shepard at all in fact she looks more like a lab over all anyway. She is 6 months old and was rescued from a high-kill shelter somewhere in Texas. The dog officer opened up a huge pen and let Tanner and the pup play and they played for 30-45 minutes! They shared a ball and played fetch with Collene and they shared drinks from the same water bowl, they hit it off famously, so we adopted her! We had to wait until today to take her home because she had just gotten there and her waiting period to be reclaimed wasn't up yet, which we knew she wouldn't be reclaimed anyway, she is from Texas originally but we had to still go by the rules, So it looks like I'll be posting not only in herding dogs but possibly in sporting too. lol

Oops! Sorry I forgot to tell you all her name, my 7 year old daughter named her Chloe. I have taken some pictures I'll upload them and send some to Donna and maybe she'll post them. :)

Now that she is on Tanner's territory there are a couple of alpha issues we are trying work the kinks out of, but all in all they get along ok for the first day, we have had her for about 4 hours now and already she has gotten a bath and a brushout, she seems to have an eye infection though because one eye keeps tearing and the vet is closed today so I'll have to call tomorrow, also tomorrow is a dog class, and it is supposed to be a talk class, paperwork no dogs, but Collene's leader want her to bring Chloe anyway to get her started with the basics, Chloe has had no training what so ever, and we are going to have our hands fulls for a while I think, MAN AM I EXHAUSTED LOL !!!!! We got a crate for her but I think she may have issues with a crate from her previous life because we can't get her into it to save our lives, and she will have to do that if she is to be shown, they can't wonder around at the shows. So any ideas on helping me to reassure her that the crate isn't a punishment and scary thing in this house?
