One of gthe wonderful rescue people who pull from our shelter sent me this tip:

A liberal daily coat of olive oil in the dog's ears for a week cures ear mites. (Apparently the little pests cant breathe or swim in the oil and drown/suffocate to death.) (No vet needed or costly meds!!.)

I wonder how that smells later? I haven't had a dog that had ear mites nor have I had one that had ear infections. Lucky me!

I also heard that Vick's Vapo-Rub cures ringworm.  $5 if you can stand the smell.

Ringworm is more of a problem in cats, but the cat can give it to the kids, the dog, the rabbit, the guinea pig....  Believe me -- that happened here once.

I wonder if it is safe to use on cats, since they groom themselves and would ingest it....
