This reminds me of the time there was a "mouse in the house" (that sounds like a song - lol). One morning dh could have sworn he saw something run in the hallway. Keep in mind this was 5:30 in the morning. Then a few days later we discovered that the bathroom rug which had fringe had been eaten away LOL!
Let Cleo get the mouse! Beats having to deal with it yourself - LOL! Emmy is my killer dog. At least she leaves the corpses outside but Buzz like to bring the corpses inside to chomp on - Ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww!
I am laughing at the "really big mouse" comment! I would say so if it's a flying squirrel!! I'm glad you were careful because squirrels can have rabies. Why don't you just open your garage door and leave it open for a few hours to see if the squirrel gets out on its own?

I say if the dog wants to get it... let the dog get it! :)
Well....last night I got home to find Cleo sitting like the RCA dog staring at the space between the cabinet and wall.
OMG Laura!! How in the world did a flying squirrel get in your house? I'd like to know.

I have no idea how it got in the house...it's not like a mouse that can squeeze through tiny cracks.
I wanted to do that but DH said No....he's afraid we'd get more things coming in.
In any case, things are getting worse.
Flying squirrel... Oh No!
