Hi! I've been seeing this trend popping up more and more. Anyone here ever do it? How dark have you gone? Or have you stayed to lighter hues of a different color? I was thinking of redoing my daughter's bedroom and painting the ceiling but I'm not sure what colors are "ok" to use.

I know what you mean. My husband and I have a great room where he wants to redo the ceilings in wood. I am just so used to white painted ceilings I am afraid to try anything new though I've seen some great ideas in other people's homes.

If you Google "Images of Painted Ceilings" you will see that literally, the sky is the limit.  You will notice however, that most of the rooms have a lot of white in them-mouldings, window casements, doors, cabinets, etc.  My 2yo grandaughter's room is pink above a chair rail and up, over the ceiling.  It is pale coffee below the chair rail.  All the trim is white.

In my en suite bathroom, the walls are a terracotta, and the ceiling is almond.  We will be bringing the almond out into the dressing room, and bedroom, walls and ceiling, except for the accent wall behind the bed, which is a golden sand color.

I don't really know much about colours but never go with purple, I've seen a purple ceiling in a house I worked in and it's terrible.

Done correctly, purple can be fabulous.

The only thing I would be concerned about is if the room becomes smaller in feel due to the color you may choose. Not sure I'd go with a dark color on the ceiling if the room is small already. It will make it darker.

If you have high ceiling you can consider cobalt colour. It's intensive but looks amazing.

Why don't you try beige colour? It is warm and calming.
