Are there any links to pictures of a normal clitoris? (not porn sites) I had an accident 12 years ago to that area of my body. I've been married for almost 8 years now and I've never had an orgasm with my husband. I'm wondering if the accident I had is to blame. I would like to see what looks normal.

Thanks,

Brenda

There are many women who've never had orgasms.......because they haven't learned how. I can't imagine what kind of accident you would have had to "damage" your clitoris....but lack of orgasms aren't usually due to a damaged clitoris. It's some thing you have to learn how to do, and learn to allow to happen.

There's really no such thing as a "normal" clitoris anyway! They're all different, just as all men's penises are different. Looking at a picture can't tell you anything, but if you think it was damaged in some way, then you should see a doctor about it. Chances are it has nothing to do with an accident at all. To see many different looking clitorises go to www.the-clitoris.com But, there is no such thing as a "normal" one......so it won't tell you anything about yours.

When I was 16, I tried to climb over the folding seats in my high school's auditorium. The seat folded in while I had one leg over the seat and the other in it. I came crashing down hard in a stradling position on the probably 1/2 thick back of the chair. I tore my urethra and had exteral lacerations that required emergancy surgery to stop the bleeding. I was in a lot of pain and could not sit up during the following weeks. It seems like that could have caused plenty of damage down there.

Thanks for your link.

Oh, WOW, that must have been terrible! From your description, you had stitches in or on the urethra....you could have damaged the nerves in your clitoris. Most likely you DID bruise the area, but bruised nerves will heal, and/or regenerate.

Since everyone's genitals are SO different, including the clitoris, I doubt very much if you could tell by looking if there was any permanent damage done. To satisfy yourself, you should see your gynecologist, and have it checked out.

I'm not trying to "make light" of what happened to you, but many women have problems with learning to have orgasms......and they ALL think there is something wrong with them. I know, I was one of them. I was married for 20 years and had 3 babies, and NEVER had one....I got divorced, had several partners and STILL never had one. I was completely convinced that I was "wired" wrong...or SOMETHING, and that I would never have one. I actually accepted that fact, and it didn't really stop me from enjoying sex.

Eventually I met a man who understood me, and women in general, more that I did myself. He told me that he would work with me until it happened, and guess what, he was right, it DID happen....and there was NOTHING wrong with me OR my "wiring". It was ALL a matter of learning how, and ALLOWING it to happen, and in my case having a VERY patient partner, who knew what to do, and had the patience to DO it until it worked!

{{{Brenda}}} ouch, that hurts just reading about it. I agree with Jo that it would be best to see your gynecologist and ask about it. Even a GYN might not be able to tell if you have nerve damage, which is certainly possible.

But like Jo said, lots of women who've never had an accident like that have trouble reaching orgasm. Have you ever tried using a vibrator on and around your clitoris? Many women need that kind of stimulation to reach orgasm.

Good luck. Let us know if this helps.
