I get this sometimes if I get up too fast or if I'm straining to do something, like picking up something heavy. It usually only last about 20-30 seconds. I think it has something to do with the changes in pressure and the optic nerve. Not too sure of the exact mechanics though.

Congrats on the twins! Wow you must really be ready!

I have had this and it kind of looks like stars. I asked my Dr. about this and she said it had something to do with the blood flow. (This was a while ago)
But, I think it's because the baby (or babies) is using a lot of the blood.

Not real scientific, but that's me! :)

Check your blood pressure. Seeing spots in your eyes is not a good sign. It does indicate swelling in the brain around the optic nerve. It is not something to be taken lightly as it can cause permenant damage if that is what it truly is.

Please call your doctor and let him know that this is going on.

Could be a migraine. I get migraines sometimes that are only just lights or spots and no headache. I would still get your blood pressure checked, but it may be nothing.

It usually means your BP is high. I would get it checked. I saw spots once when I got up from laying on my back for an extended time period and my dr said it was high BP but my BP is normal in general. For some reason laying on my back just made it shoot up for a second. Anyway, just check your blood pressure because it could be no big deal like it was in my case or it could be a sign of serious problems.

That's weird, I experienced that today too! The best way I can describe it was sparkles flying around. Also, my ankles were VERY swollen today (since 8 am!) and I felt horribly icky. I hope everything is ok. I go to doc tomorrow so I will be sure to let her know!
Glad someone raised a red flag!

thanks to everyone for responding, i called the dr, and since i was just there and my BP was fine, they said it was due to the heat. both times this happen (1 week apart) i was basically sitting by the pool, in about 90-95 degrees. so she said, um, don't sit in the heat and drink plenty of fluids.

thanks!!
